Construction Jobs Training
Hope CDA believes many of the challenges in society stem from the absence of men in their homes or men that are not living as positive role models. Hope CDA’s construction jobs training program provides training and opportunities for men with employment barriers who have a desire to not only be successful in the construction industry, but in all of life. The goal of this holistic training is to help men become financially self-sufficient and to mold them into leaders in their workplace, their neighborhoods and their families.
Hope CDA uses the building and refurbishing of homes as on-the-job training for participants. This 12 months training program includes construction classroom instruction as well as life-skills classes and a life coach/mentor relationship to help participants succeed.
Hope CDA has been a participating builder in Cedar Rapids’ Rebuilding Ownership Opportunities Together (ROOTs) program. Under this program, applicants with limited incomes can qualify for financial assistance in building a house, primarily targeted in neighborhoods devastated by the historic flood of 2008.
